Part of my Social Media Marketing class required students to create a social media account on a media platform of their choosing and then to create content based on their interests. One of my hobbies is reading, so I created a book related Instagram account. In creating and managing the account my interest for content creation and social media increased. By learning so much with this experience I decided to continue managing and running the Instagram account to further my learning and see the growth of the account. By creating this account it allowed me to learn more about the creator side of social media. Also, I was able to work on my skills with content creation, understanding engagement, and testing out different features with the account. I use a content calendar to plan out the post and create all forms of content styles (posts, stories, and reels) for the account. In the 11 months of managing this account it has just under 500 followers and has steadily increased in engagement. With this account I have been in communication with authors, bookstores, and others in the community which helps with forming connections in the book community and has helped improve the account overall.
